Releasing a coming soon page on steam...
So I've decided to sell this game on steam, and have shelled out the 100 or so USD to put up a coming soon page.
I've heard that it's best to put out a coming soon page as soon as possible, and I think I have enough graphics and such to make the page exciting to store goers. Only problem... Ugh... The capsule.
It doesn't look great. I tried my best, but compared to a professionally done capsule it looks like ass. It sucks, I've heard from a marketing video you have to fork out 200 - 700 dollars if you wanna hire a professional artist to get one. And I'm Australian, so that'll come to much, much higher cost, like over a thousand, tops. Ouch. And I don't even know if this game will be worth that much. Oh well.
So yeah. Marketing. Apparently you'll need 7000 wishlists so the steam algorithm will put your game on the new releases tab on steam, which is what I want, cause I wanna do game dev full time. So far I got like 6 wishlists in a day after being approved by steam to put up my page. So if I get like an average of 6 wishlists per day, in a year I'll get like a little over 2000 wishlists. Not enough, cause I plan on releasing at steam next fest in june. You'll get wishlists by participating in next fest, quite a large amount if I remember correctly. You gotta stream on next fest too, hopefully I get people to tune in to it.
So my plans are to, of course contact streamers. D7 is on my list of course, dunno who else to contact. I've heard twitter is extremely useful for contacting streamers, so I guess I'll be using it once I've released a demo to build hype. By the way, the demo is to be released in August for the /vrpg/ demo day jam. I'm pretty sure I can make it, I'm pretty much done with the assets, rule systems, stats, skills and mapping, just gotta rewrite the story and do stats for monsters and I'm done.
So yeah. Once the demo is done, will be time to submit to streamers. Then festivals. Obviously the aforementioned next fest of steam, but I think submitting to the RPG Maker festival would be a good idea. Dunno about other festivals. So streamers and festivals. Apparently posting to twitter or reddit isn't a good idea, barely any wishlists, it's all in streamers and festivals.
Anyway, thank you for reading! Just look up Barako the Pirate on steam if you wanna wishlist it if you don't like itch.io.

Awesome! All the best with it. I don't understand what a "capsule" is though.
Its the graphics which you click on and advertise the game with while on steam, it's pretty important to have a good one. Thank you by the way!
Ah yeah! I hate all those details :/
